Your Industry. Your Business. Your Show.
"South Building Proves Popular With the Fenestration Industry"
“Win-door has proven to be strong, and effective in these very challenging times”… this was how this years exciting Win-door North America show was described by CWDMA President Kevin Pelley and many of the over 130 exhibiting companies in North America's most focused International fenestration trade show in 2009, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, November 17 - 19. Trade participation recorded over 2500 attendees plus exhibitors. “Like all shows in today’s marketplace – we faced the challenge of smaller attendee and exhibitor personnel numbers, but by all reports the quality was excellent!” stated Richard Lipman of the CWDMA. |

The Canadian Window & Door Association (CWDMA) honoured many of the Canadian industry’s builders with the “Industry Pioneer” awards held at the Win-door North America Show held in Toronto on November 18th. The awards were held in conjunction with the celebration of Win-door North America's 15th anniversary.
Twenty-two of 42 honorees were at a special presentation to accept their award from CWDMA President Kevin Pelley of Kohltech International and Pioneer Committee Chair, Knut Holmsen of Marvin Windows. Robert Latour of Novatech Glass called up the winners and provided background on each of their histories and accomplishments. The awards were followed by guest speaker Walter Gretzky.
The Pioneers and their guests were treated to a “Special Dinner” in their honour. Several of the honorees took to the podium at the dinner to “tell their stories” and thank CWDMA for the honour.
The “Pioneer Designation” recognizes the nominee's efforts to promote and to better the objectives of the industry and association nationally.
Enclosed is copy of the Pioneer Brochure showing the Pioneers names and a short history. |

In order to maintain and nurture the links with those who had a part in building the Canadian Window and Door industry, the CWDMA will pay tribute to industry leaders during a special ceremony at this year’s Win-door show in Toronto, Ontario.
The Pioneers of the Industry award was developed to recognize individuals who have demonstrated dedication to the industry and/or the association; those who have proven themselves as leaders in the industry. The Pioneer designation recognizes the nominees who have, at many different levels, made a major impact on the Canadian Window and Door industry over the years. Their efforts to promote and better the objectives of the industry and the association nationally deserve to be acknowledged.
More than forty Pioneers from across the country and representing all aspects of the window and door industry have been nominated in recognition of their contributions. The event will be a great opportunity for the nominees to share their memories and experiences from the industry. A special presentation will take place during the Windoor Show on November 18th, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in the Meeting Centre on the show floor to be followed by a “meet & greet” social with special guest Walter Gretzky. |
